You would be better off getting Wiley CPA exam review booklet

I was very unhappy with this workbook compared to the Wiley workbook. Took the exam twice with Kaplan and failed. The review material is extremely extensive and quite boring with little practical examples. I also purchased the flashcards...don't waste your money. I would definitely recommend their other flashcards for the other three exams but not these. If you really want to be the best prepared for the BEC section of the exam I would recommend Wiley CPA review and the Wiley focus notes. I have taken this exam 3 times thanks to Kaplan. I finally was prepared enough when I dumped my Kaplan materials and switched to Wiley. They had easy ways of remembering the concepts and formulas. Maybe because it is a new section and all the review courses are trying to guess what kind of material is actually going to be tested well Kaplan needs to definitely rework their material and definitely their flashcards.
I purchased the Regulations and Business and Environments cd's to listen to in my car and at the gym. I initally purchased it thinking it was going to be similar to the Joe Hoyle audio cd's but to my extreme disappointment they were recorded by someone else. The sound quality was very poor and I felt they could have included better coverage of the key topics.

About the Author
J. Manuel Espinosa studied folklore at Stanford University under his father, and received his Ph.D. from the University of California, Berkeley, in 1934, where he studies southwestern history under Herbert E. Bolton. He is the editor of The Pueblo Indian Revolt of 1696 and the Franciscan Missions in New Mexico: Letters of the Missionaries and Related Documents, also published by the University of Oklahoma Press.

A historical book, the counterpart of leftist views on 1936's Spain

This book in by no means what some propaganda tactics explain at all. Spain was in a very disastrous predicament in 1936. The Republic was not a democracy anymore. The left was very radicalized. There was very little room for other views and frustration, shortages of foods, shortages of opportunities, along with jailed opponents of the leftist government and the assassination of one of the main oppossition leaders, Calvo Sotelo led to the rebellion that followed.
The individual life of anybody who had different opinions to the 5 year old Second Spanish Republic was worth very little.
Anarchists, Socialist, Communists and lef wingers of undetermined origin all supported the State in disarray. The so called "Popular Front" was inducing more animosity than unity and it caused the still young Republic to be an unwelcomed system for most Spaniards.
Franco was, for the most part a loyal General to the 2nd Spanish Republic. But discontent was growing since the end of 1935 and even more so in January of 1936, when the Popular Front took power.
Franco and a great many other military officers had enough of the caos derived from the extreme left-winged government. Reality became that something had to be done to re-establish political order and get the economy back in order as well.
It is true that a great number of the military rebels were pro-Monarchy. And Franco knew about it. Not many were very keen to follow Republican directives.
But it was the animosity of the times that brought this conflict into becoming the most bloody blood bath in Spanish history.
Franco may have been a dictator, but he saved Spain fron the claws of Stalin and his 2nd Communist International offensive.
By Franco taking command in Spain, the country was spared from being invaded by Nazi Germany later on, and the British were able to still keep Gibraltar from Nazi hands.
USA was very pro-Republic, and the Lincoln Brigade defended the 2nd Spanish Republic; something that is to be respected, but to the Spaniard, there was more at stake than having to keep a coalition in power that ultimately wanted to surrender Spain to Soviet domination.

Many of the scholarships are no longer active

I am very disappointed with this book. While the book has a very large list of scholarships, of the 20 or so that my daughter was eligible for, 11 are no longer active or being offered. The book is titled the 2011 edition and obviously the database has not been maintained. I considered this book a waste of money and time as it takes many hours to read all scholarship details to decide which you are eligible to apply for.

This was a true waste of money on the basis that the quantity of scholarships is not there. Furthermore this is merely a income generating product as the spam has not stopped since I registered for their scholarship.

The Kaplan Scholarships 2011 is the latest edition of this Book. A great collection of College Scholarships is contained in its pages. In this age of economic uncertainty (and rising costs), many parents are unsure of their ability to send their children to College. This book has over 3000 scholarships listed, with each valued over $1000. No hunting through the internet, and dealing with scholarship scams. This book's true value far exceeds the paltry cost. I highly recommend this to anyone looking at sending themselves or a loved one to college.

Rushed to print?

I have used several Kaplan books to help prepare students for the SAT and AP exams. Most Kaplan books are contain good examples and excellent test taking advice.

This book, however, seems to have been rushed to print. In the math sections alone, I found 21 typos / errors. These are not simple mistakes; these typos / errors affect the student's understanding of the problems and concepts.

Perhaps the verbal and writing sections have fewer mistakes. I haven't checked those yet.

MANY errors! I would NOT recommend it...

I would not recommend this book. I was tutoring someone today in mathematics and so far I've found many math problems that have typos. This book was NOT carefully edited. These are not mere typos either. Either the problem will be incomplete, the answer will not be in the options, or the explanation/solutions will solve a different problem than asked. I am shocked that such a reputable company let this book get by with all of these errors. Avoid spending your money on this one.

SO Much Better Than the 2005 Edition!

After I read the reviews about the 2005 edition, I was a little wary about the 2006. However, I decided to give it a try and am very glad I did! The main issue in the 2005 was the amount of errors in the math section, but it is a lot better this year. I have yet to find one and I am about 3/4 of the way through. The math section seems very scary, but remember they're reviewing the most difficult questions. Don't get discouraged!

I think the best part of the book is the essay section. The College Board grades essays on a scale of 1-6, and so this book gives you an example of the average score 4. It goes through the 4 essay and gives you specific ways to raise that grade. It then gives you an example of a six. There are also numerous pratice questions.

Overall, I only have one problem with the book and that is the lack of practice tests. Though it does have review practice at the end of each section, it doesn't have a full length test. If you are going for the perfect 2400, I recommend this book and a book of just practice tests. Good Luck!

About the Author
Rabbi Yosef Gavriel Bechhofer is a Rebbe at the Mesivta of Yeshivas Rabbeinu Yitzchok Elchonon (commonly known as MTA) in Manhattan, and a frequent Maggid Shiur at Yeshivas Ohr Somayach in Monsey. Rabbi Bechhofer is the author of one of the most popular tracts on the subject of metropolitan eruvin, and serves as a consultant to communities across the continent, facilitating the building and maintenance of urban and suburban eruvin. He is also an editor at Artscroll/Mesorah Publications, most recently involved with the Daily Dose project. Rabbi Bechhofer has served as a Rav, Rebbe and Rosh Kollel in the Chicago and New York areas. Rabbi Bechhofer is one of the few individuals to have served as Maggid Shiur for both Daf Yomi Bavli and Daf Yomi Yerushalmi, completing both. He is also a senior lecturer for the Aishdas Society, an association devoted to more profound understanding and experience of all aspects of Talmud Torah and Avodas Hashem. He has served as a guest Maggid Shiur, scholar in residence, and lecturer in numerous venues, including Alberta, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Ohio, Ontario, New Jersey, New York, Tennessee, Washington, Wisconsin, Israel and England. He is a prolific author. He has published many essays in major Orthodox Jewish periodicals. His published seforim are: The Contemporary Eruv: Eruvin in Modern Metropolitan Areas, Bigdei Shesh on Bava Basra, and Bigdei Shesh on Sefer Shoftim. This is, without a doubt, the best single halakhic book written about eruvin in English. Rabbi Bechofer goes through all of the halachot relevant to a modern eruv in a modern area. He walks the reader through the sources and development of the laws, and the book includes a lot of pictures and diagrams. If you want to understand the rather complex issues surrounding eruvin, this is the book for you.

About the Author
Don Alexander is not a professional chef. He is a 32 year old guy who just loves to cook. Don is a technology sales consultant who grew up in northwest Indiana. Don moved up to the northwest suburbs of Chicago after college, and has resided there since. As a child, Don used to watch his mother cook for her 5 children. He was fascinated with the way she would prepare the food, cook it, and time everything just right so all the dishes were done at the same time.Don's fascination with cooking hit a new level one day when his mother asked him if he'd like to stir one of the pots. Since that day, Don was hooked on cooking. His fascination with cooking even extended to watching cooking shows.For the past 10 years Don has been making meals that he remembered from his childhood, from watching cooking shows, and meals he found in cookbooks. His only dilemma was that he was usually only cooking for himself, and all the meals he learned from his childhood, the cooking shows, and cookbooks made servings for 4 to 6 people. During these 10 years he has been taking what he has learned about cooking and designed quick and easy meals for 1 or 2 people.His passion for cooking turned into the idea for a cookbook when he realized that there were thousands of people that were in his same situation. People who liked to cook, but didn't want the hassle of making large, complicated meals for just themselves, or just themselves and their significant other.Don felt that the numerous quick and easy recipes for 1 or 2 people he had created for himself could benefit thousands of people. This is when he decided to write the book. Hopefully, this book will give an insight into Don's passion for cooking, and let people who have the same passion, but are only cooking for 1 or 2 people actually enjoy cooking. Hopefully this book will also let people who don't know how to cook be able to learn how to start cooking.

Please don't buy this cookbook

I like to cook, but after I left my husband,I was not cooking for a family, but for me. This cookbook shows you not how to cook for one person but how to cook for a fraternity. This is not real food, unless cream cheese enters into your idea of haute cusinine (Fettucine Alfredo with Cream Cheese???)

would have been better without the pictures

I should have listened to the above reviewer, who was kind. Way too expensive for what is not there. I'm returning it for a basic Betty Crocker that comes with GOOD pictures.

Were some ingredients omitted????

Several recipes seem to have ingredients missing - such as his
bread crumb toppings. Recipes are easy to prepare but are too
basic and a little boring.
