About the Author
Doug M. Carter has served as Executive Vice President of Public Affairs at EQUIP since 1996. As EVP, Doug represents EQUIP in churches and conferences across America, and teaches at EQUIP leadership conferences around the world. Prior to joining EQUIP, he served as Vice President of World Gospel Mission, an interdenominational mission agency with 330 career missionaries sharing the gospel in twenty-four nations. He and his wife, Winnie, have more than 16 years of missionary experience serving Native Americans. Doug also spent nine years as president of Circleville Bible College, helping prepare men and women for Christian service, and is the author of Big Picture People (Beacon Hill Press).

Make fund raising enjoyable for all (finally!).

Dr. Carter's book is the best I've read on issues relating to fund raising, and relationship building.His Relational Funding model is profound, and no other fund raising tactics lend themselves more to building a community of committed parties than that. And Doug should know, over the last 40+ years Doug's been involved with numerous successful local, national, and global projects - all of which required massive fund raising.
As a donor, and as a board member for numerous non-profits, many times I've been approached to support things over the years. Traditional fundraising is about what a group can get out of a person. Doug's method focuses on connecting donors to the project, and gives donors the true ROI they always look for. Whenever Doug asks me for support, it makes me wish I could donate more to his projects. I never feel guilt about what I can or cannot do. I've never felt pushed or prodded to give to those using this method.
I've been asked to fund-raise,and I've never been good at it. I've always been the person to write checks, not ask others to do so! I can tell you, when I've used Doug's Relational Model, my fundraising went from an awkward task to a motivational and inspiring way to engage more people to the cause.
The bottom-line is Doug Carter's concept of Relational Funding takes the stigma of traditional fundraising away, for the fundraising party and the donor, and it even makes it an enjoyable process for all. This book is relevant to any fundraising effort, even though the book is primarily focused on fundraising in ministry scenarios.If you want to raise money, or know someone who does, then GET THIS BOOK!

A wonderful, well written book that clearly outlines the joy of being a generous follower of Christ. Doug also does an excellent job in laying out a blue print on how to raise support in a godly manner.
